The release below is from the Stone County Sheriff’s Office:
On September 24, 2026, at approximately 9:20 pm, deputies received reports of shots fired on West Finley Drive in Nixa, Missouri, in Stone County.
Upon arrival, Stone County and Christian County deputies located a 60 year deceased male lying in the driveway next to the residence. Deputies cleared the residence and then established a perimeter and began searching the surrounding area.
During the search, deputies heard another gunshot coming from the woods behind the residence. Deputies maintained the perimeter, and a second deceased male was later located in the woods. The second male, 50 years of age, appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Stone County detectives responded to the scene and conducted the investigation and evidence processing. Based on evidence collected at the scene, it appears the two males knew each other and had been involved in some type of altercation prior to the shootings.
To clarify information provided during an interview last night, I was incorrect in stating that the homeowner was the first victim. The homeowner was the deceased male who was later located in the woods.
This investigation remains ongoing, and no further details are being released at this time.
