According to the amended Felony Complaint filed by the Taney County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Billy Hunter of Hollister is now facing Involuntary Manslaughter Charges. Hunter is still facing the original charge of Second-Degree Assault.
According to the original probable cause affidavit filed by the Taney County Sheriff’s Office at the time of the shooting, Hunter was target shooting on August 9 into an RV when one of the shots went through the structure and struck a person standing in his yard. Officers said that the RV was in a direct path from where he was standing to the neighbor’s house.
The victim was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment of the gunshot wound to his abdomen.
According to the amended information, the victim has since died of those injuries leading to the additional change.
Hunter is next scheduled to appear in Taney County Circuit Court on October 27.
