Michael Bardwell and Linda Pledger were guests on Around The Table on Tuesday, October 6th, to discuss the Harrison School Foundation luncheon. Linda Pledger is a retired educator and has been a foundation member for over twenty years.
The luncheon will honor certain members of the organization and community members who have done things for the school. One of the categories that is recognized is the distinguished alumni. This year the foundation is honoring the Cavender family. Steve Cavender and his daughters Cara and Lisa have all graduated from Harrison High School. The grandchildren have graduated from the Harrison school district as well.
This year’s distinguished educator is Jeff Christenson, who was the band director of the Harrison school district for many years. During his time as band director, he took students on many trips to perform, including President Ronald Reagan’s inauguration and at the World’s Fair in New Orleans in 1984.
Danny and Tammie Roth will also be acknowledged as recipients of the Foundation Legacy Award.
The luncheon is open to the public and will take place on Tuesday, October 27, at 11:30 a.m. at Signature Tower. Guests can visit with the individuals who are being recognized and, to bring some nostalgia, cinnamon rolls will be served from the Harrison school cafeteria.
Tickets for the luncheon can be purchased through the foundation’s website or Facebook page, or you can contact Linda Wells at 870-741-7600 to purchase them.
