The citizens of Reeds Spring welcomed visitors from across the country into their town this weekend as the Reeds Spring Bonnie & Clyde Days Festival was revived for the first time in more than a decade.

Hosted on Saturday, October 24, at Reeds Spring City Field the event featured live music, a car and motorcycle show, food vendors, a poker run and more. The efforts to bring this once annual event back to life were led by the Reeds Spring Event Committee. After a full day of festival activities, Reeds Spring Event Committee Vice President Danielle Hays expressed her enthusiasm for the community’s positive response to the festivals return.

“It was pretty awesome,” Hays said. “I think it went pretty well for our first year back, and we’re hoping to make it even better for next year. So, we will start having it annually. We even got our next year’s date out. It’ll be October 23, of next year.”

The festival also included three live re-enactments throughout the day, showcasing the timeline of events that occurred when the infamous outlaws Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow made their way through Reeds Spring in 1934.

“They robbed a bank while they were here. They had a kidnapping,” Hays said. They had a shootout at Yocum Pond Road, which is a local road, and right here at the railroad track trestles that are right here by the field. And so, they try to reenact those scenes of those shootouts that they had with them while they were here…The really cool part is these reenactors were the same ones that did it back when. Some of them had been doing this for over 30 years.”

The day of entertainment also included performances by Alanah Turner, the Reeds Spring High School Choir, Hailey Francisco & Band and The Flying Buzzards. Dozens of vendors were also in attendance showcasing their handmade crafts, boutique items, gifts, sweet treats and more during the festival.
