Council Members heard from City’s Chief Operating Officer Wade Phillips about putting out Request for Qualifications on Transportation and Water Master Plans. Phillips said the play would be for 20 years in five years increments and that he would together a selection committee to pick out the successful bidders. Phillips added that having plans in place for projects can help earn points when it comes to apply for grants to finance additional projects.
Also at last week’s meeting, the council set the for the Boone County Clerk the property tax millages to be approved for 2027. The total for this year is 6.2 mills.
Finally, a decision on the rezoning of property at 323 West Central to allow for a Car Lot required Mayor Jerry Jackson to break a tie. Due to one council member being absent, two abstaining due to Conflict of Interest, and one member voting no, Jackson cast a vote in the affirmative to allow the transition of the property.
The next Harrison City Council meeting is scheduled for September 24.
