Roy William Curtis, age 85, of Bergman entered the gates of Heaven Saturday, August 29, 2026. He was born March 12, 1941, in Salinas, California, to Carthel and Violet (Martin) Curtis.
He attended Bergman School graduating in 1959. July 3, 1960, he married his high school sweetheart Shirley Norvell. They were blessed with 4 children, Jeff, Jerry, Jana and Judi.
He enjoyed life with a passion. After God, his family and God’s creation he enjoyed quail hunting, fishing, his airplanes, cars, boats and houseboats. You could always find him tinkering on something.
In lieu of his hobbies, he also wore many hats in employment. Over the years he worked in a uranium mine in New Mexico, was an electrician, owned and ran 2 bulldozers, and ended his working years spending 35 years as a funeral director at Holt Memorial Chapel and Coffman Funeral Homes in Harrison and Jasper.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Jana (Curtis) Daniels.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons Jeff (Nancy) Curtis, Jerry (Denise) Curtis, daughter Judi (David) James, Scott Daniels, brother Randy (Karen) Curtis, nephews Steve (Amanda) Curtis, Blake (Caroline) Curtis, niece Laken (Zhyana) Kamentsky. Grandchildren, Rebekah Curtis, Cody (JoAnna) Curtis, Lauren (Tim) James, Reagan (Trey) Flint, Gavin and Garrett James, Kayla (Gannon) Roberts, Misty (Ryan) Edwards, T.J. (Ashley) Wallin, Shelby (Blake) Smith, Tyler (Jeri Lyn) Daniel, Kylie (Zach) Davidson, 26 great-grandchildren and 3 almost 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 3, 2026, at First Assembly of God Church, 1329 W. Stephenson, Harrison, Arkansas with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00 a.m. Officiating
will be Mike Morre and Reverend Dennis Selvidege. A private burial will be held at a later date.
