Jeanine Velora Doerr, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, entered her heavenly home at the age of 85, on September 7, 2026. She was born in Plainview, Nebraska on December 27, 1940, to Edwin and Doris (Miller) Petersen.
Jeanine graduated from Plainview High School in 1958, where she sang in a trio throughout her high school years. They sang at most school and community functions and competed in singing competitions. She said they always won, but not because of her…she sang alto, but not a true alto. She actually sang a combination of alto and tenor. She said the judges overlooked it because they said she made it flow so nicely. She even played the piano on WJAG radio in Norfolk, Nebraska.
She married Gene Henry Doerr, on February 14, 1960 at Stark Valley Methodist Church in Plainview, Nebraska. She cherished being married to the love of her life for 65 years. They enjoyed roller skating, dancing, family holiday gatherings, Sunday lunches, and attending church. Jeanine played the organ/piano at church and various functions for approximately 50 years. But nothing made her happier than to spend time with family!
Gene and Jeanine farmed in Nebraska until moving the family to Hollister, Missouri in 1971. Jeanine worked at Wal-Mart for 43 years, forming many friendships with co-workers and customers in both the fabric and jewelry departments. She was loved by all, but she was especially close to her sister-in-law, Helen Thompson (Aunt Helen).
Jeanine was preceded in death by her husband, Gene H. Doerr, parents, Edwin and Doris Petersen, and siblings, Don Petersen and Merlen Petersen.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Bob (Mary) Doerr of Forsyth, MO, Tony (Cherie) Doerr of Forsyth, MO, Julie (Joel) Freese, of Ozark, MO and Tammy (Randy) Brown of Liberty, MO, her brother Carlyle (Carol) Petersen and her sister Janelle (Dwight) Ashton and her sister-in-law Faythe Petersen. As well as grandchildren, Casey Brown, Drew (Malaya) Brown, Jenna (Aaron) Wundrack, John (Ambrielle) Freese, Dalton (Justine) Doerr and Dustin (Madison) Doerr, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jeanine encouraged us to be strong in our faith, and taught us, through her example, to love, care and be kind to others. Many people talk about being of service to others, but Jeanine lived it. She was always of service to her church, family, friends and there was a place at the dinner table for anyone who didn’t have a place to go for holidays.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 11 from 5-7 pm at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, 1638 E. Hwy 76, Branson, MO. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12 at 11:00 am at Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church, 13904 US-160, Forsyth, MO. Burial will follow in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson.
