The Highlandville Rural Fire Protection District reports a pair of fires, one last Friday which destroyed several hundred acres then on Monday, they were first on the scene of a large fire that was spreading along Curbow Road near Galena.
A report from Ozarks First indicates the Monday fire impacted farmland owned by Alex Stigall, who told Ozarks First that the fire destroyed fencing and stockpiles of grass for their animals but that the animals and home on the property were not impacted.
Despite the rain which is in the area, agencies still caution against outdoor burning.
Rain chances continue through the end of the week but officials say much more rain is needed to impact the drought conditions as well as fire safety.
