James L. “Jim” Dingerson, 93, passed away on October 15, 2026. He was born in Sawyerville, Illinois, on August 27, 1933, to Henry and Emma (Marcacci) Dingerson. Jim attended school in Gillespie, Illinois, and later began working as a respiratory tech. He went on to earn his certification as a respiratory therapist before leaving that field to pursue his goal of owning and operating his own business installing satellite systems for residents seeking broader television options.
Jim lived a full life marked by work, family, and many interests. He enjoyed riding motorcycles earlier in life and spent time working on cars and barbecuing for family and friends. He liked being around people and talking with them, especially his friends at Yummy Donuts, where he often enjoyed biscuits and gravy for breakfast. Jim also had a special place in his heart for cats and welcomed more than he likely should have. One cat in particular stayed close by as he lay in bed, and he also had a lasting interest in Bigfoot memorabilia, which he collected and displayed around the house.
Jim and Donna (Warner) were married in Mt. Olive, Illinois, at the Methodist Church on January 4, 1969. They were long-time residents of the area for forty years after coming from Illinois. Jim was a practicing Messianic Christian. He will be remembered by his children, Donald Dingerson, Denise Dingerson, Deborah Fischer, Skylor NeSmith, and Braydon NeSmith, as well as by sixteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jean Crites.
Jim’s life reflected steady work, simple pleasures, and a clear enjoyment of people, animals, and conversation. Those who knew him will remember his interest in his work, his hobbies, and the many ways he made his presence known in daily life. His memory will remain with those who knew and loved him.
Services for Jim will be held on October 22, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., with visitation beginning at 5:30 p.m. until service time at Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel in Forsyth. Memorials may be made in Jim’s honor to Branson Animal Shelter and Humane Society.
