Donald A. Haynes passed away on October 3, 2026 at the age of 86. Donald was born on April 26, 1940, to Arnold and Irene (Bauerkemper) Haynes in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He spent his formative years in Council Bluffs, where he attended school and later pursued job training at NCR. Donald dedicated much of his professional life to being a systems operator for electronic signage and message boards, a role that allowed him to merge his technical skills with a passion for communication. On September 3, 1961, Donald married his beloved wife, Billie (Poulos), in Omaha, Nebraska. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family, raising three children, Arnold, Ted and Rebecca, who were a constant source of pride and joy in Donald’s life. Donald was a lifelong contributor to his community, showing unwavering dedication as a member of the Council Bluffs Rotary Club as well as the “Dad’s Club.” He cherished these connections, finding fulfillment in giving back to the community. When not engaged with his clubs, Donald found solace and happiness in the great outdoors, indulging his passion for hunting and fishing. Donald is survived by his devoted wife, Billie; his son, Ted Haynes; and his daughter, Rebecca Haynes. He leaves behind a legacy of love, embodied in his grandchildren: Danielle, Melissa, Andrew, Michael, and Tiffany, and he proudly embraced the role of great-grandfather to Austin, Theo, Claire, Jack, and Bear.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Irene along with his son Arnold.

Donald A. Haynes will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His unwavering love, kindness, and passion for life will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever. A memorial service honoring Donald’s life will be held at the New Testament Christian Church in Reeds Spring on October 17, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged and may be left in care of New Testament Christian Church, 21016 Main Str., Reeds Spring, MO. 65737.
