Sandra “Sandy” Lea Simpson, age 77, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away September 29, 2026, with family at her side. She entered this life on March 25, 1949, the daughter of Russell and Ester (Mays) Wonders in Newton, Iowa. Sandy was joined in marriage on June 10, 1977, to Richard William Simpson. She is preceded in death by her parents.
A quiet and caring woman who enjoyed the simple things in life, Sandra was an avid reader and talented quilter who enjoyed spending her time creating beautiful pieces. She especially treasured time with her grandchildren and loved sitting down to play games with them. Christmas was a particularly special time for Sandy and her family, filled with traditions and time spent together. She also had a great love for her dogs, who were devoted companions and loved her just as much in return. Before retiring, Sandy worked for many years as a Human Resources Director, building a long and dedicated career. Sandy’s quiet presence, the traditions she treasured, and the many memories she created with her family will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Sandy is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Richard Simpson; son, Doyle Simpson and wife, Stacy of Odessa, Missouri; daughter, Vicki Simpson of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren: Logan and Ethan Simpson; brother, Randy Wonders and wife, Diane of Nevada, Iowa; as well as five nephews and many other extended family members.
