Storms Roar Through the Lakes Region

Storms that developed late Thursday afternoon made an impact in the Lakes Region through the evening hours.

The National Weather Service issued several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for southern Missouri and northern Arkansas as they storms built up while moving through the region. All or parts of all counties in the Lakes Region were under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning at one time with gusty winds and heavy downpours the main threats. Some hail up to an inch in diameter was reported in Jasper by the Police Department.

An Ozarks Dynacom reporter saw several tree limbs on road in addition to a tree branch snapped off of a tree in the Hiawatha Heights Neighborhood in Branson. Hail was also reported by several members of the public in areas around Branson.

Other reports submitted to the National Weather Service included a pair of trees reported down on Arkansas State Highway 7, one in Boone County in Diamond City, the other in Newton County south of Jasper. Another tree was reported down on a Marion County road east of Lead Hill near the Boone County Line.

In Missouri, other trees were reported down in Christian County around Boaz near the Stone County Line as well as in Oldfield which block a road for a time.

Another round of showers and thunderstorms are possible today before another period of hot weather sets in for the next seven days.
