Beverly Ann Teitsort (Cockrell) entered her eternal rest on September 22, 2026. She was born on October 18, 1944, in Sikeston, Missouri, to Martha Killian Cockrell Yancy and Wilburn Cockrell. Her father, Wilburn Cockrell, was killed in action in W.W.II and she later met the “Daddy of her heart,” Herbert Elmo “Spud” Yancy, when he married her mother, Martha, in 1946.
Beverly was the loving, caring matriarch of a large family. She was joined in marriage to her loving husband, Richard, on December 31, 1969. They shared 46 beautiful years together until his passing in 2016. She was an avid gardener and won “Yard of the Month” every month until she asked them to please consider someone else for the award! She was a phenomenal cook, loved to serve her family, and often gifted her baked goods as appreciation to her neighbors or those at her bank. She loved trying new, interesting recipes – the crazier the better! Reading wasn’t just a pastime – it was a way of life for Beverly! She loved reading her novels and exploring every new and interesting idea, but she especially loved watching her great grandchildren grow and play. Her wisdom, witty sense of humor, love, advice, and fierce belief in our God in Heaven will live on in all those waiting to be reunited with her. There is comfort in knowing she was greeted by her love, her parents, brothers, and granddaughter.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Teitsort; her parents; two brothers: Wilburn Allen “Sonny” Cockrell and Dale Yancy; and her granddaughter, Brittany Teitsort.
She is survived by three children and their spouses: Marvin “Rowdy” and Brenda Craig of Sebastian, Florida, Shawn Kipper “Kip” and Lindsay Teitsort of Cartersville, Georgia, and Alisa Teitsort of West Plains, Missouri; her siblings and spouses: Gwen Yancy (sister-in-law) of Monroe, Louisianna, Deidra and Richard Rappa of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Herbert Jr. and Kathleen Yancy of Fort Pierce, Florida, Janice and Dave Crosby of
Fort Pierce, Florida, and Cirt and Hazel (Beebee) Yancy of West Plains, Missouri.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Lara, Tiffany, Michael, Tyler, Shawn, Victoria, Daniel, Hunter, Emma, and Ethan; and 11 great-grandchildren.
