BRANSON, Mo. — Summerlike heat will give way to a dramatic cooldown late this week, with showers and possible thunderstorms arriving before temperatures tumble into the upper 60s.

Branson’s forecast calls for highs near 92 on Monday, October 12, and 94 on Tuesday. By Friday and Saturday, afternoon temperatures will be roughly 25 to 27 degrees cooler, bringing a much more fall-like feel to the area.

The transition begins late Tuesday night, when rain chances increase to 40 percent. Showers could develop after 1 a.m., with thunderstorms possible toward daybreak Wednesday.

Wednesday brings the best opportunity for a soaking rain. The forecast calls for a 100 percent chance of precipitation, with showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Rainfall amounts between one-half and three-quarters of an inch are possible during the day, with additional rain chances continuing into Thursday.

Showers and thunderstorms remain possible Wednesday night, with a 50 percent chance of rain. Thursday’s rain chance is 60 percent, with showers most likely before early afternoon. A few showers could linger Thursday night.

Temperatures will ease to around 87 Wednesday and 85 Thursday before the bigger drop arrives. Friday’s high is expected to reach only 68 under mostly sunny skies, followed by a sunny Saturday with a high near 67.

The cooler air will be especially noticeable overnight. Lows are forecast to fall to around 42 Friday night and 41 Saturday night, setting up chilly mornings across the Branson area.

Sunshine continues Sunday, October 18, with temperatures rebounding to around 76. The weekend currently looks dry, offering comfortable afternoons after the week’s rain and sharp temperature change.
