Recall covers 2024 through 2026 models and involves wiring connections that could cause loss of drive power, headlights and other vehicle functions.

Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 149,000 Mustang vehicles in the United States because of an electrical problem that could cause a vehicle to lose power while being driven.

The recall covers 148,663 Ford Mustangs from model years 2024 through 2026, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The problem involves ground connections in the engine compartment wiring harness. Those connections can become damaged and potentially fail, affecting several electrical systems in the vehicle.

Depending on which connection fails, a Mustang could lose drive power or experience problems with its headlights, windshield washer system, air conditioning or engine cooling fan. NHTSA said the failures could increase the risk of a crash, particularly if a vehicle loses power while moving or if a driver loses visibility.

The recall is listed as NHTSA Campaign 26V547. The affected vehicles were produced for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 model years.

Ford traced the issue to engine compartment wiring harness ground terminals that can be stressed during assembly and become more susceptible to fatigue from vehicle vibration.

Drivers whose vehicles experience the problem may see warning lights or messages appear on the instrument panel before some electrical functions are lost.

Ford dealers will replace the affected engine compartment wiring harness ground terminals free of charge.

Owners can check whether their vehicle is included in the recall by entering its vehicle identification number, or VIN, in the recall search tool on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.

Ford has issued several other recalls during 2026. In June, the company recalled more than 91,000 U.S. vehicles because daytime running lamps may not dim properly, potentially reducing visibility for other drivers.
