John Sparacio, age 90, of Kissee Mills, Missouri, passed away September 5, 2026. He entered this life on August 5, 1936, in Jersey City, New Jersey, the first son of Vincent and Frances Sparacio.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Jack Sparacio, and Bernard Sparacio; and sisters: Mary Sparacio, and Angela Sparacio.
He proudly served in the United States Army and fought in Korea during the Korean War, carrying with him the discipline, courage, and sense of duty that defined so much of his life. His military service was a source of honor to him, and it reflected the steadfast character that those who knew him came to admire. After returning home, he continued to serve his community in meaningful ways, including his time as a volunteer firefighter in Guttenberg, New Jersey, before later moving out of the area. His willingness to step forward in times of need spoke to his generous spirit and his commitment to helping others. John was a devout Roman Catholic throughout his life, and his faith remained an important guiding force in all that he did. It shaped the way he lived, the values he upheld, and the kindness he extended to others.
He also had a curious and thoughtful mind. John had a strong interest in finance and current affairs, and he enjoyed keeping up with the world around him. He appreciated staying informed and engaged, and he took genuine interest in the events and ideas that shaped daily life. At home, he found pleasure in simple pastimes that brought him comfort and enjoyment. He loved all animals, watched television, used his computer, and especially enjoyed playing games on his computer with his wife, Arlene Sparacio. These moments reflected the warmth of his personality and the happiness he found in companionship and shared time.
He loved many things, but what was most important to him was his faith, his family, and all the times that they spent together.
He is survived by his beloved spouse, Arlene Sparacio, of Hillsdale, New Jersey; Veronica (Ron) Egan, of Kissee Mills, Missouri; granddaughter, Carly Egan, of Alexandria, Virginia; brother, Frank Sparacio, of Washington Township, New Jersey; sister, Josephine Sandman, of Maryland; and many of his loved nieces and nephews.
