Berryville residents have a new place to buy plumbing and electrical supplies.
B-Town Plumbing and Electrical Supply hosted their grand opening on Friday, October 16.
“We are so appreciative to the Berryville Chamber of Commerce and those that showed up,” Owner Jason Hill said. “For us it felt like a huge success. We had approximately 200 to 220 people come through during the time we were having it.”
Hill expressed his thanks to the 11 vendors who sponsored food, raffles and door prizes for the grand opening.
“We are just extremely grateful for the chamber and all those who helped make this happen,” Hill said.
Hill purchased the former Maverick Supply in the summer. The family owned and operated store caters to contractors, homeowners and DIYers for a variety of construction or repair projects.
“We have everything from plumbing fittings, pipe, repair parts, to wiring and receptacle switches, and if we don’t have it, we can usually get it pretty quick,” Hill said.
Northwest Arkansas has always been home for Hill, who is a Carroll County native. Hill has been around the construction trade since he was 14-years-old. He started plumbing after graduating from Eureka High School in 2003, and received his Master Plumbing License in 2008. Hill also taught shop at Eureka High School for 10 years.
Though plumbing was his trade for more than 20 years, before health reasons forced him to retire, Hill is committed to learning more about the electrical side of the business.
“I’m still trying to constantly learn,” Hill said. “I’m actually talking with a couple of students that I taught who are going through the electrical apprenticeship right now and talking about coming in and sitting in some of their classes to learn more on the electrical side. Because, obviously, somebody coming in here, I want to be able to help them, and I want to grow on that side of things.”
In the meantime, Hill isn’t afraid to ask for outside help if customers come in with a question he doesn’t know how to answer.
“Let’s maybe contact somebody who knows a little bit more than what we do, and we’ll try and get it figured out to where we can help you,” Hill said.
Education is important to both Hill and his wife, Tilenna, who is currently a teacher at Eureka Springs Elementary. He understands the importance of Career and Technical Education (CTE) for students who might not see themselves going to college.
“I was a CTE student going through high school and didn’t have a desire to go to college,” Hill said. “I wanted to learn a trade and that was just what I was going to do. But life changes and you have to pivot with what you got. The experiences that I got in high school and the CTE classes that I was taking have basically brought me where I am today.”
B-Town Plumbing and Electrical Supply has partnered with Berryville High School to recognize a CTE Student of the Month to highlight students who are learning about the business world while still in high school.
“We wanted to partner with them to recognize the student that is going above and beyond in their classrooms and their clubs. To recognize them and show some appreciation to them and also get it out into the community that we do have some kids that are looking at other options other than just going to school, and they’re exceeding in the classroom and some of the things they do,” Hill said.
Sophomore Kendall Reeves was the first to receive this honor.
Hill looks forward to growing B-Town Plumbing and Electrical Supply and continuing to establish the business within the Berryville community.
“We try to treat people just like they’re long-lost friends,” Hill said.
