Cherished husband, father, brother and friend, Harold Edward “Eddie” Lane, age 79, of Branson, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on September 16, 2026, at Cox Medical Center in Branson, Missouri. He was born on May 17, 1947, in Conway, Arkansas.
Eddie grew up in Arkansas and graduated from Guy Perkins High School in Guy, Arkansas. It was in high school he met Nancy Lunsford. She became his high school sweetheart and the love of his life. Right after high school, Eddie served his country in the United States Air Force before being medically discharged. He returned to Arkansas and married Nancy in 1967 in a beautiful ceremony at her family’s home.
Eddie and Nancy made their home in Conway, where they worked in the furniture and furnishings business. Eddie built headboards, while Nancy helped tuft them and make velvet bedding. He went on to receive schooling and training in public service and police work and courageously served with the Conway Police Department and later as Chief Deputy in Faulkner County, Arkansas. In 1979, Eddie moved to Branson to pursue his musical career. He worked in the Branson Police Department and found a home playing lead guitar and singing back up vocals at Bob-O-Links in 1979. In 1984, he joined the Plummer Family and played steel guitar, sang and also did comedy in the show. He was known for his ability to repair instruments and sound equipment, a skill that reflected both his talent and his generous spirit and continued long after he stopped performing. He returned to protecting others as the head of security at College of the Ozarks in 1990. He worked at the college for 20 years before retiring in 2010.
Eddie will be remembered for his loving, outgoing, and kind nature. He adored his family and treasured the life they built together. He loved people and never met a stranger. He had a passion for music and sharing its joy with others. He loved to make people laugh and had a great sense of humor. He was also a talented woodcarver in his spare time. He carved beautiful, handcrafted custom-made pictures and caricatures. Eddie faithfully attended Friendly Baptist Church and lived his life with devotion and care for others. His presence will be missed beyond measure and his memory will remain a blessing to his family and all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Lane of Branson; his daughter, Melanie Weldele and her husband, Tony of Branson; his sisters, Shelia Roemisch and her husband, Jerry of Austin, TX, Donna Evans and her husband, Doug of Guy, AR, and Sherry Rooney and her husband, Daniel of Guy, AR; and one brother-in-law, Jerry Senn of Henderson, NC. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Renee Lane, who died at the age of 4 from leukemia; his parents, Joe & Faye Lane; one sister, Brenda Senn and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, D.L. Lunsford and Ruby Lunsford.
A celebration of Eddie’s life will be held at Friendly Baptist Church in Branson on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 1:00 pm.
