Another delay as been announced by the Missouri Department of Transportation for the completion of a bridge project in Barry County.

Citing weather and supply chain issues, MODOT says in a release that the opening of the new State Highway 248 Bridge over Flat Creek new Jenkins has been pushed back to early October.

Crews are replacing the old single-lane bridge, which was completed in 1930, with a new two-lane structure that is 70 feet longer, eight feet wider, seven feet higher.

The bridge closed in March and was originally scheduled to reopen in July, then was delayed until August before the latest delay was announced.

Signed detours will continue to be in place around the closure using State Highways 37 and 76.

The total cost of the project is $3.7 million and is being done by Louis-Company LLC of Grain Valley.
