George Demitrius Photides, 62, passed away on September 13, 2026.
George was born on September 12, 1964, in Amarillo, Texas to Constantine Photides and Shirley Adkins Photides. He moved to Yellville, Arkansas in 1985, where he made his home and became a part of the community.
Throughout his life, George was known as a hardworking man who was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. He worked in construction and at SLM, and later worked overseas for KBR in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Republic of Georgia. His work took him far from home, but Arkansas and the outdoors remained close to his heart.
George especially loved the Buffalo River and spending time bass fishing. He also served as a Boy Scout leader, sharing his time and experience with young people. Those who knew George will remember his strong work ethic, his willingness to help others, and the many experiences and stories he gathered throughout his life.
He is survived by his four children, Brandon Photides, Clinton Photides, Matthew Photides, and Isabel Photides; three grandchildren, Lillian Photides, Nevaeh Photides, and Henry Photides; his sister, Faye Carter; and his nieces and nephews, Keith Reynolds, Kevin Reynolds, and Charity Benson.
George will be remembered by his family and friends and by the many people whose lives he touched along the way.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public memorial service.
