The Ozarks are not expected to experience hurricane conditions from Hurricane Polo, but moisture from the powerful Pacific hurricane could become part of a weather system bringing heavier rain to portions of southern Missouri and northern Arkansas next week.
The biggest potential local impact appears to be increased rainfall Tuesday into Wednesday according to information from the National Weather Service.
Forecasters say the tropical moisture could combine with another storm system approaching the region to bring significant rainfall to the Ozarks.
The current forecast does call for some rain chances over the weekend with the major storm system that could combine with current Hurricane Polo beginning to move into the region by Tuesday.
